Myself, in a sentence
My name is Ellie Retrophilia. I'm a tomboy chick with a soft feminine heart and retro edge. I grew up with the smell of grease and exhaust in my nostrils and it influences my creativity. I am at my best when I'm slinging paint or creating a beautiful face. Dirt, sweat and grease is how I grew up and probably how I'll die. I am an artist to the bone and a country girl at heart.
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it
My favorite tattoo is a red and blue pin-striped star done by Joe at Slamm Dragon in Hampton Virginia that I designed myself. It is reminiscent of the blue star flag symbolized by a blue outlined star surrounded by red scrolled pin-striping and the words "For God and Country".
My first tattoo and the story behind it
My very first tattoo which is on my upper left arm was done while I was in the military. I had just turned 19 and because of my very youthful looks wanted just another way to prove my age. I designed the tattoo myself however the tattoo artist executed it very poorly causing scarring and uneven color throughout the tattoo. It has since been covered up by an awesome portrait of Kirk Hammett by Matti Hixson of Cherry Bomb Tattoo in West Virginia. It is a work in progress.
My next tattoo
My next tattoo will be a memorial piece to remember my grandmother who passed away in March of 2010 after her second battle with pancreatic cancer. It will be a racing scene between a pink '50s Thunderbird and a purple 2010 Corvette. The T-bird would have her birth year on the license plate and the 'Vette her death year. The purple represents pancreatic cancer and the pink represents breast cancer.
